Diving... part 1...

i am back...

have been away for the past weekend... since friday...
for once... i get holiday! yey!!!

from my previous post, i have been saying about me learning diving...
so last weekend, went to redang for the PADI Open Water Certification

so before going to redang, i have been working late nites for the whole week just to get my things done b4 i go off for holiday...

went home around 2am on friday morning... pack up abit... then quickly went to bed...

then woke up around 5am to grab the taxi to go to the airport... went to terengganu by flying with Air Asia...

reached KT around 8am... then waited for the pick-up transport by redang-kalong resort...

terengganu beach...

reached merang jetty... and waited the water transport under the HOTTTT sun... :|

our ferry came late... we were suppose to leave the jetty latest by 930am... but the ferry only arrived around 930am... after waiting it to fill petrol and etc, we begun our journey to the island

due to the ferry was late, so the boat man was speeding all the way and the sea was rough... one of the passenger's luggage bag bounced off the ceiling of the boat and landed at our seating place... *luckily*

checked in the hotel and we were welcomed by our dive instructor sharon...

view from the balcony outside our room

There is not much sun when we arrived at the island... as it's raining at another side of the island... the sun was gloomy... but heck... we are here for diving anyway.. wun be seeing the sun much under water anyway :P

so we started our dive briefing at around 1130am... we are assigned with our equipments...

BCD, regulators, weight belt, and fins...

setup the equipments and off we go... carrying our own equipments on our back to the boat...
=.="

our first dive is at Redang-Kalong's house reef... which is roughly around 1KM away from the resort...

this location is a sandy sea bed for us to do our skills evaluation...

we did a back-roll entry from the boat... cos we are only sitting on a small sampan... which can only fit maximum 10 person...

back-roll entry is the entry method that we always see in those adventure movies... like James bond or mission impossible...

so wear our fins, washed our mask, ready... sharon called our names one by one...
toh... go
meiching... go
meridine... go
werm... go
shereen.. go
kevin... go
siew moi... go
micheal.. go

every body did a back-roll entry to the water... and everyone did a loop wif the hand on the head to show OK...

we checked our time... and did a 5 point descend with buddy...
-OK buddy, let's go down...
-replace snoorkle with regulator...
-check time...
-look for a reference (underwater and surface)...
-and off we go....

i was budd-iying my sister...

we descended slowly with the line... equalizing our ear every few feet...

and we reached the sea bed which is around 8meters deep...
the feeling is totally different from what we have experienced in the pool...
the air bubbles sound was louder, there is around of sound from the surface of the water... boat sound mostly...

we could hear it loud and clear...

then after all are settled and kneeled on the sand, we begun our skills evaluation...

first was the Regulator recovery...
then followed by Half Flood mask...
then Full flood mask and mask replacement...

this was the hard one... everyone hated this... as we need to flood our mask entirely and take off our mask and count to 20... ewww... but i still get to do it without any problem in the pool...
but i think i wasn't concentrating this time... i flooded my mask... took it off... and start counting t0 20 with my fingers... and then replaced my mask.. and tried to clear it...
here comes the drama... i was suppose to clear the mask by pressing on the top of the mask.. then exhale using my nose...
but instead... i exhaled using my mouth~!!!! and i opened my eyes... and.....
i see everything is still very very blur... shit... i did it wrong... the water was still in my mask!!!!

so i quickly shut my eyes and exhale through my nose... and due to the kan-jiong-ness, i chocked myself by swallowing some water... oh gosh... that was bad... luckily my contacts din float off... keke

then sharon asked me whether i am okay... with the OK hand sign... i replied by showing the OK hand sign...

after that... we did fin pivoting, then neutral bouyancy... those 2 was pretty easy for me as i have practice it so many times in the confined water lessons...

after all the skills, sharon clapped her hand to show us well done... then she brought us swimming around the reef planted by Redang-Kalong resort... even though the reef is not that matured, but it's very beautiful !!!!

around 40 minutes in the water, it's time for us to go to the surface as our air is running low too...

we did a 5 point assend...
b4 we board in the boat... we did another skill... proper weighting... to determine how much of weight that we need... as result... i needed 2 weights... which is roughly around 2kg

then we climbed on the boat... with some help from the boat man.. and off we go back to the resort...
reached the jetty... walked back to the dive center... took of the empty tank from the BCD, and kept the equipments...

this is the end of our first dive... and we were starving by this time... dried ourself... and rushed to the dining area...

license expired... :-s

still in the office doing some work... was pretty bored...
so i went online to check whether i have any outstanding summons unpaid... as i need to renew my car's road tax license...

then i came across a link... that link brought me to a site to check the validity of driving license(CDL)....

so i keyed in my I/C number to the text box, and it showed my driving license details...
when i looked at the expiry date, i got a shocked!!!! my driving license expired on 8th February 2007....

holy crap... i was driving "illegally" for more than 4 months!!!!!

so when i saw lilo online... i told her about this... she laughed laughed and laughed...
and the irony is... when she checked her's, her's was expired too.... expired 2 months ago~!!!!!!

which makes us -> "lilo and stitch... the (illegal) driver duo..."

starbucks... coffee...

i heard of this phrase in a series that day... Gray anatomy...

"there is no medicine if there is no coffee.."

which is pretty true tho...
as coffee is a temporary solution when u really need to keep yourself awake..
or mayb as a temporary mood booster... which my case, starbucks :P

got a coffee treat today... from our pretty lead... as she was in the mood of starbucks too ;)

thank you lead~
